Volvo Transmission Service & Repair in Lagos
ONYEBEST services and repairs Volvo transmissions at Ladipo Volvo Plaza, 15 Alh. Amusa Street, Mushin, Lagos. That means fluid and filter changes, selector and linkage work, solenoid and sensor faults, mounts, and the diagnosis that tells you which of those you are actually dealing with.
What we do, and what we do not
We service and repair transmissions. We do not strip and rebuild a gearbox internally, and where that is genuinely what a car needs we will say so plainly rather than take the job on and discover it halfway through.
That matters, because a good deal of what gets called a gearbox problem is not internal at all. It is fluid that has never been changed, a selector or linkage out of adjustment, a failed solenoid or sensor, a broken mount, or an engine fault the transmission is only reacting to. All of that is worth ruling out before anybody starts talking about a rebuild.
Fluid is the part most often neglected
Automatic transmission fluid does more than lubricate. It is the medium the gearbox uses to change gear at all, and it carries heat away while doing it.
Lagos traffic is close to the hardest duty cycle there is for it, because a transmission makes the most heat at low speed and under load, which describes most of the day. Old fluid changes gear badly, and that shows up as slurred or delayed shifts long before anything has actually failed. It is the cheapest point at which to act.
Diagnosis comes first
A transmission behaving oddly gets scanned before anything is opened. Professional diagnostic scanning reads what the transmission control unit has stored and what it is seeing live, and that is what separates a solenoid or a sensor from real internal wear.
It also catches the cases where the transmission is innocent. A misfire or a fault elsewhere on the engine can make the shifts feel wrong while there is nothing at all amiss inside the gearbox, and replacing a healthy gearbox is an expensive way to find that out.
What to tell us when you call
Have this to hand when you call:
- The model and the year, and whether it is automatic or manual
- What the car does: slipping, delayed engagement, jerking, refusing a gear
- Whether it happens cold, hot, or both
- Whether a warning light is on
- Whether the fluid has ever been changed, and how long ago
Booking
Open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, closed Sunday. Call 0802 758 0411. The 0701 497 7086 line answers calls and WhatsApp alike. Bring the car in warm if you can, because a lot of transmission complaints only show themselves once the fluid is up to temperature.
